The Creepy Line: Social Media's Manipulation of Society
How Google and other companies manipulate our perception of reality.
Many people have hailed Netflix's documentary The Social Dilemma as a must-watch film, as it shows very clearly the dangers and pitfalls of social networks and how these networks are changing us. I completely agree that the Social Dilemma is a very good film and highlights many things of which most people are not aware (but should be). However, I believe the documentary linked below is even MORE helpful and MORE important if we wish to understand not only how social networks affect our interactions with other people but also how Google and other companies manipulate our perception of reality. My wife and I watched this documentary last week, and I genuinely believe it is one of the most eye-opening and important documentaries of our time. It's also a bit shorter than The Social Dilemma and can be watched for free on YouTube in addition to other platforms (e.g., Prime Video). Here’s a link to the full documentary free on YouTube:
Here's the official description of the video:
"The Creepy Line reveals the stunning degree to which society is manipulated by Google and Facebook and blows the lid off the remarkably subtle – hence powerful – manner in which they do it. Offering first-hand accounts, scientific experiments and detailed analysis, the film examines what is at risk when these tech titans have free reign to utilize the public’s most private and personal data."
