What The Green Ember Teaches Us About Fear
"I regret many things I've done, but most of all I regret those moments when I said to Fear, 'You are my master.' "
I have the great privilege of listening to my oldest daughter read the Green Ember to me every evening. It's an excellent series filled with courage and selflessness. Those unfamiliar can do a quick search to see the plot, but the way it grips your heart and engages your mind is reminiscent of a great tale like Lord of the Rings (but with the noblest themes from the Hunger Games mixed in). We're nearing the end of the third book, but this page from the first book continually returns to my mind:
"I regret many things I've done, but most of all I regret those moments when I said to Fear, 'You are my master.' "
Lord, help me not be ruled by fear of death or fear of man. May I be wholly and fearlessly devoted to You.
